How to Get Free V Bucks in Fortnite
Free V Bucks, your all-in-one guide to earning V Bucks in Fortnite legally and safely. While there are currently limited ways to earn free V Bucks through Battle Royale gameplay, there’s no need to worry we’ve gathered every legitimate method available in one place.

Daily Quests
Daily Quests allow players to earn 100 or more V Bucks each day by completing simple objectives. A new Daily Quest is automatically added to your account every day, making this one of the most consistent ways to earn V Bucks through regular gameplay.

Login Rewards
Daily Login Rewards occasionally include large V Bucks payouts on specific days. By logging in consistently, players can unlock these rewards without completing missions. Check the full schedule to see which days offer V Bucks and how much you can earn.

Timed Missions
Timed Missions are special, limited-time missions that sometimes reward 50 V Bucks upon completion. These missions rotate frequently, so it’s important to stay updated and complete them before they expire.

Main Questline
The main questline includes Storm Shield Defense missions that appear roughly every tenth quest. Completing these key missions rewards players with 100 V Bucks, making the main storyline an important source of V Bucks over time.

Side Quests
Side quests and optional challenges offer additional opportunities to earn V Bucks. These often involve tasks such as finding Mimic Chests or defending Storm Shields. While some objectives may repeat, they still provide reliable rewards.

Events
Special event quests occasionally offer large amounts of V Bucks as rewards. These limited-time events vary by season and update, so checking both current and past events can help you maximize your V Bucks earnings.
Beware of Scam “Free v Bucks” Hacks
This website lists all legitimate ways to earn free v Bucks in Fortnite. Be extremely cautious of websites, tools, or apps that claim to offer “free v Bucks” hacks, cheats, or generators. These scams often ask for your username, require you to complete surveys, or promise unlimited v Bucks after a so-called “human verification.”
These offers are completely fake. Their real purpose is to steal account credentials, collect personal information, or trick users into clicking malicious advertisements. No hack, generator, or shortcut can add v Bucks to your account—and these methods do not and will never work under any circumstances.
There are also websites and social media posts or groups that falsely claim to give away free v Bucks or in-game items. Many of these are phishing attempts or links that can compromise your account or device. We strongly recommend avoiding these pages entirely and never clicking on links that promise free v Bucks or Fortnite items.
Using Your Earned Free v Bucks in Fortnite
In Fortnite Battle Royale, v Bucks can be used to purchase Seasonal Battle Passes and a wide variety of cosmetic items. These cosmetics include outfits, gliders, pickaxes, and emotes. Newer seasons have introduced additional cosmetic types such as Back Blings, Contrails (Skydiving Trails), Loading Screens, Wraps, Music Packs, Instruments, Shoes, Sidekicks, and LEGO® kits.
Most cosmetic items cost between 200 and 2,000 v Bucks, although limited-time or exclusive items may have different prices. A Seasonal Battle Pass costs 1,000 v Bucks and allows players to earn even more cosmetic rewards as they level up. v Bucks are shared between Save the World and Battle Royale, meaning you can use them across both modes.

Free V Bucks in Save the World
Save the World Founders can earn v Bucks in addition to X-Ray Tickets. X-Ray Tickets are used to purchase Loot Llamas, which help players progress in PvE mode. Loot Llamas contain valuable items such as heroes, defenders, survivors, and schematics that are used to craft weapons and traps.
In addition to regular missions, Save the World Founders can earn v Bucks through Daily Quests, mission alerts, and special objectives tied to PvE gameplay. These rewards accumulate steadily over time, making Save the World one of the most reliable ways to earn v Bucks through consistent play. While X-Ray Tickets are primarily used for progression within PvE, v Bucks earned in Save the World can be freely spent across Fortnite, including Battle Royale purchases, giving Founders long-term value for their gameplay efforts.

Timed Missions Tracking in Fortnite: Save the World
Fortnite: Save the World features Timed Missions that reward bonus items such as evolution materials, experience, schematics, heroes, defenders, survivors, perk resources, or V Bucks. Each Timed Mission’s bonus reward can be claimed once per completion.
Timed Missions are marked on the map with a clock icon and rotate every 24 hours. While there are several types of Timed Missions, only Mini-Boss missions (also called Mini-Boss Mission Alerts or Mission Alerts) can reward V Bucks. You can view the current Mini-Boss Mission Alerts directly in Fortnite: Save the World.
V Bucks as Mini-Boss Mission Rewards
Only Mini-Boss missions may reward V Bucks, typically 50 V Bucks per mission.
Missions rotate daily, and completing the same mission again does not grant another bonus.
Other Timed Mission types, like Storm missions, reward evolution materials, while Elemental Storm missions provide elemental perk resources.
Event-specific missions may offer unique rewards during special events.
For tracking other mission types like Mega Alerts, Group, Storm, and more, check the current missions tracking page.
Timed Missions and Legendary Rewards
Mini-Boss missions can reward:
- Evolution materials
- Experience
- Schematics
- Heroes
- Perk resources
- V Bucks
You can view current Mini-Boss Mission Alerts and rewards without launching the game. No matter where a V Buck reward mission appears, many players will attempt it for the free V Bucks.
History of Save the World Mission Alerts
v37.50 update: Increased V-Bucks rewards from Mini-Boss Mission Alerts to 50 V-Bucks, with slightly reduced frequency. Also boosted Daily Quests and Toxic Treasures rewards.
Patch v2.3: Doubled Mission Alerts past Stonewood to six, adding Mini-Bosses to all.
Patch v3.4: Focused Mini-Boss rewards on Transform Keys and high-rarity items, removing crafting ingredients.
Patch v3.5: Mini-Boss Alerts cannot be selected in Stonewood or Plankerton unless unlocked, but can still be accessed with a higher-level party.
Patch v4.2: Added perk resources to the reward pool.
Patch v9.00: Removed the daily cap of 3 mission alerts and changed rotation schedule from 6 hours to every 24 hours.
Event-specific missions may temporarily double the number of available missions.
Over time, V Bucks rewards for Mini-Boss Mission Alerts increased from 15–30 V-Bucks to 25–50 V-Bucks, making them a reliable source of free V Bucks for dedicated players.
Main Questline V Bucks Rewards in Fortnite
Fortnite: Save the World’s Main Questline includes Storm Shield Defense (SSD) missions roughly every ten quests. Each SSD rewards 100 v Bucks along with Skill Points, especially early in the game where these missions appear more frequently. Simply progressing through the story allows players to earn a solid amount of v Bucks.
Storm Shield Defense missions also reward Hero Experience and Mini Llamas for you and your teammates. Asking for help in Global Chat is highly recommended—many players are happy to assist for the rewards and to progress their “Hold the Door!” challenge.
Main Questline Areas in Fortnite
The Main Questline is divided into four major areas, each unlocking after completing a set number of quests. Every area contains six Storm Shield Defense missions, regardless of its total quest count.
- Each Storm Shield Defense mission grants 100 v Bucks
- Completing all six SSDs in an area rewards 600 v Bucks
- Storm Shield Defense 7–10 unlock later as Side Quests
- Storm Shield Defense 10 grants 150 v Bucks
This brings the total to 1,050 v Bucks per area when all Storm Shield Defenses are completed.

Benefits of Progressing in Fortnite Save the World

Advancing through the story unlocks new areas and allows you to expand your Storm Shield. Each successful Storm Shield Defense increases your Storm Shield size and reveals additional mission locations on the map.

Each successful Storm Shield Defense increases your Storm Shield size and reveals additional mission locations on the map.
Progression also opens up new Challenges and Side Quests, some of which reward v Bucks. In every zone, you can unlock four additional Storm Shield Defense missions as Side Quests. After reaching certain areas, you may also gain access to area-specific Daily Quests.
Side Quests That Reward v Bucks in Fortnite Save the World
Fortnite: Save the World features a wide variety of Side Quests and Challenges. While many of them reward items like bacon, experience, or resources, some offer v Bucks as a reward. Challenges are repeatable for a limited number of stages, and new Challenges and Side Quests are unlocked as you progress through the main questline. Once all stages are completed, these challenges no longer provide v Bucks, making them a finite but valuable source of income.
Side Quests mainly include activities such as collecting special husk data and completing additional Storm Shield Defenses beyond the main storyline. Each main area—Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny Valley, and Twine Peaks—ends after six Storm Shield Defenses, leaving room to complete higher-level defenses as optional Side Quests.
Side Quests That Grant v Bucks
- Lok’s Book of Monsters – Collect sample data from specific husk types in successful missions. Some stages reward v Bucks.
- Lok’s Book of Monsters: Floating Freaks – Collect 20 Shielder Data samples in successful missions to earn 100 v Bucks.
- Storm Shield Defense 7–10 (All Areas) – Completing Storm Shield Defenses 7 through 10 in Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny Valley, and Twine Peaks (outside the main questline) rewards 100 v Bucks each. The 10th Storm Shield Defense in every area rewards 150 v Bucks.
Repetitive Challenges That Reward v Bucks
Several Challenges can be completed in up to 20 stages, with increasing requirements at higher stages:
- Mission Accomplished! – Complete a set number of missions. Rewards 50 v Bucks per stage, up to 20 times.
- Hold the Door! – Complete Storm Shield Defenses. Rewards 50 v Bucks per stage, up to 20 times.
- Toxic Treasures – Destroy Mimics in successful missions. Rewards 50 v Bucks per stage, up to 20 times.
By completing these challenges over time, players can earn up to 3,000 v Bucks in total. Other challenges, such as Eldritch Abominations and Leave No One Behind, do not reward v Bucks but provide valuable items like Active Powercells, Bacon, and Survivor XP.
Events That Rewarded v Bucks in Fortnite Save the World
In the early years of Fortnite: Save the World, events were a major source of free v Bucks. However, the last event to directly reward v Bucks was Road Trip in 2018. Since then, events have stopped offering v Bucks through their questlines, although some still indirectly increase v Bucks income by boosting the number of Mini-Boss missions during the event period.
Events typically introduce their own questlines, progression systems, heroes, weapons, traps, survivors, and event-specific currencies. These currencies are used to purchase Event Llamas, allowing players to earn legendary items without spending v Bucks. Event stores rotate with each event, and Collection Book sections are often expanded with new event items.
Events Without V Bucks (2019–2020)
From late 2018 onward, most events no longer included V-Bucks as quest rewards:
- Blockbuster (2020) – No V Bucks
- No Dancing / School of Hard Knox / Cram Session (2020) – No V Bucks
- Holly Jolly Ransom & Frostnite (2019–2020) – No V Bucks

- Frostnite (2018–2019) – No V Bucks
Some of these events increased the number of Timed or Mini-Boss missions, indirectly improving V Bucks farming opportunities.
Events That Increased V Bucks Income (Without Direct Rewards)
- Fortnitemares 2018 – No quest V Bucks, but Timed Mission V Bucks were more than doubled
- Cram Session (2018) – No quest V Bucks, but Timed Mission V Bucks were heavily increased
